Intense. Comprehensive. And the Benefits of Community Life. RIC DayRehabCenters

Insist on the best: expert, coordinated care

Where can patients go when they need multiple therapies after a serious illness or injury? Simple outpatient therapy or home health care may not get them to their goals.

At RIC, we know the challenges our patients face in the world - from workplace to school, from parenting to leisure activities. And we know the skills they'll need to meet those challenges. Day rehabilitation patients at RIC participate in both one-on-one and group therapies to learn real-world skills that they then practice in a real-world environment.

Our day rehabilitation program offers intensive half-day and full-day programs tailored to help each patient achieve their highest level of ability. Everything a patient needs is all under one roof at RIC: a full range of therapies…nursing…orthotics and prosthetics…medical oversight and more. We're ready to do whatever it takes to help patients return to work or school and a fulfilling life at home.

We'll meet any challenge

Patients come to day rehabilitation with a wide range of diagnoses, from mild stroke to major trauma. The conditions we see most often include:

We welcome patients of all ages, from young children to seniors. We understand the unique needs of children and teens, and we offer special, age-appropriate programs that motivate and excite them.

Our six DayRehabCenters serve patients from throughout northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin and northwest Indiana. Take advantage of our transportation program, available throughout our large service area.

Get the right team for your goals

True teamwork goes beyond multidisciplinary care. In RIC day rehabilitation, the most experienced professionals work together closely to develop a personalized treatment plan based on each patient's strengths, limitations and personal goals. Team members communicate daily about how their patients are doing, regularly evaluate the patient's progress and revise treatment plans accordingly.

A board-certified physiatrist (a physician-specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation) oversees each patient's care plan and consults with a patient's referring physician. Depending on a patient's needs, the team can draw from a broad spectrum of experienced professionals at RIC, including:

  • Occupational therapists
  • Physical therapists
  • Speech-language pathologists
  • Registered nurses
  • Vocational counselors
  • Psychologists
  • Neuropsychologists
  • Social workers
  • Clinical managers
  • Orthotists and prosthetists
  • Specialty physicians such as neurologists, pediatricians, orthopaedic surgeons
