Electrodiagnostic Testing
Electrodiagnostic testing is a procedure designed to evaluate the peripheral nervous and muscular systems to determine nerve and muscle diseases. The test is appropriate for patients of all ages and can be conducted on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. This procedure is used to evaluate patients with symptoms of numbness, tingling, weakness, muscle cramping or pain.
The test must be ordered by a physician with a referral from either the patient's personal physician or a physician associated with the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC). The test itself takes approximately one hour and is conducted by a physician. Reports are then sent to the referring physician within 48 hours.
Electrodiagnostic testing is available at several RIC locations. For more information, call our Toll Free Referral and Information Line: 1-800-354-REHAB (7342), or visit the locations page of our Web site.
