What is the RIC Military Adaptive Sports Camp?

Join the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and the RIC Virginia Wadsworth Wirtz Sports Program in conjunction with the U.S. Paralympics in a celebration of sport! This two day event will provide service men and women a hands-on opportunity to learn about and try different Paralympic sports, and to expand thier resources to live a healthy, active lifestyle that embodies the "Amazing Awaits " spirit.  

This camp will highlight the sports of:

  • Wheelchair rugby
  • Sled hockey
  • Powerlifting
  • Sailing
  • Wheelchair Basketball

Who is eligible to attend?

All former and current service members with one of the following disabilities: spinal cord injury, amputee, traumatic brain injury, blind/visually impaired. All participants must be independent with their activities of daily living. Anyone interested in participating is required to complete a registration form. Competed registration forms should be returned by June 23, 2008 and can be faxed to 312-238-5017 or mailed to:

How much will it cost?

There will be little or no cost for those who attend: lodging, meals, and all activities will be provided during the camp and for participants who may be traveling to Chicago, there are transportation funds available upon request. Contact Jenny DiLaura at 312-238-5005.
